Don’t Say Cowboy, Say Western
Fashion is a wonderfully postmodern concept, particularly women’s fashion. With women’s fashion, we love to reinvent the past to arrive at a new fashion that belongs to itself only, although its inspiration is borrowed from history. However, it isn’t just the past that we like to make our own, it’s other people’s fashions, too; particularly men’s fashions. Think about it, how many trends have we taken from men and made our own? We’ve taken trousers, boots (biker, Chelsea and brogue), shirts, etc. This year, we have taken something else: cowboy boots!
Cowboy boots are set to be a big trend over the course of the following few months. No longer are they the reserve of men, they are now ours too. If you talk to a real-life cowboy, though, they will say we are not staying true to the style. For a start, they don’t like the term ‘cowboy boot’, preferring instead the term, ‘Western boot’. That’s great for us, though, because we can pretend we made it up ourselves! Yee-ha!
The internet is a great place to start looking for your new pair of Western boots (oops, looks like we’ve stolen the cowboy vernacular after all!). The online world boasts by far the greatest collection of boots available. You can find a wide range of Western boots, from those that are relatively cheap, to the high-end, designer, boots. In fact, we would bet that anyone could find a suitable pair of western boots online; there is a style to suit everybody.

Another reason why the internet proves the perfect place to begin your shopping is that it has the best prices. The internet is a naturally competitive market, and this makes it a buyers’ market. With the retailers vying for your custom, they have to do something to get you to their website, and this usually comes in the form of offering the very best prices on the most popular styles and brands of footwear. Furthermore, though, the online retailers have far fewer overheads (it costs them less to run their businesses), and this means that they can offer even better prices. The difference in price between an online business and a real-world business can be immense; it is common to receive as much as a 30% discount from the prices you find in the shops.
Of course, there are a few problems with shopping online, but these are easily surmountable. One of the key problems is that of fit. Without trying the boots on before you buy, you can never be certain of a correct fit. However, most retailers offer a return’s policy, so that customers can return shoes that do not fit and get the correct size. This can be a bit of a hassle, but no more than driving into town, finding a parking space and then navigating the crowds, and so overall, the internet is far more convenient. Online retailers will even offer next-day deliveries, so you don’t have to wait around for your new boots.
