Wear Your Western Boots With Style: What Not to Do
This the season to be jolly, tra la la la la…and our feet are in on the party, too. Winter is the time to get out all our favourite boots, and we don’t know about you, but we are incredibly excited about this; there’s nothing like wearing our favourite foot comforters during these long, dark and cold days of winter. During the course of this article, we are going to take a closer look at cowboy boots, and discuss a little bit of the best way to wear this style of boot. They can be notoriously difficult to pull off, and many people make mistakes. For this reason, rather than looking at what you should do when wearing cowboy boots, we are going to look at what you should not do.
Ok, so the first and most important tip when wearing western boots is to play them down. Never, ever, ever, try to adopt the cowboy ‘theme’. Do not wear fringed leather (e.g. coats, trousers or waist coats) when wearing westerns. Avoid too much leather – leather jackets are ok, but leather trousers are a massive no; also, if you do wear a leather jacket, opt for a short one, rather than a long one, or they may clash.
These boots form part of the classic look and this means that you do not need to overplay anything in your outfit. You should be aiming for a subtle and understated look, rather than anything too ‘out there’. These are not the boots to wear to make a statement – you want people to do a double take, but not because they’re thinking ‘what the @$%* was that?’, but rather, because they are thinking, ‘who is that beauty?’ Keep it understated and you will emulate the fashion greats, like Brigitte Bardot or Kate Moss.
